2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

My vehicle was serviced for the Chevy L87 recall a couple of thousand miles ago. It currently has 13343 miles on it and I was driving down the road and then all of a sudden the engine just stopped and my vehicle lost power leaving me stranded on a state route XXX in [XXX], which is a dangerous route with nowhere to pull off. While operating the vehicle, the front electric drive motor suffered a failure, triggering reduced propulsion warnings and rendering the primary electric powertrain inoperable. The vehicle was towed to an authorized GM dealership service center, where the defect was confirmed. To replace the failed front drive unit, technicians had to drop the front subframe cradle and completely dismantle the front suspension and steering assembly. During inspection of the disassembled components, severe mechanical galling and metal scoring were documented on the cast aluminum front steering knuckle mounting boss. Reinstalling suspension and steering hardware against structurally compromised, gouged aluminum presents a severe safety hazard of metal fatigue, stress fracture, or joint failure under dynamic loads. This vehicle is factory-rated to tow heavy loads. Dynamic cyclic forces transferred through a compromised front knuckle assembly—particularly when towing on a weight-distribution hitch—create an acute risk of structural failure and loss of directional control at highway speeds. The vehicle has remained grounded and out of service at the dealership for over 50 continuous days undergoing this high-voltage and chassis teardown.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ, 3.0L Duramax. When the DEF system begins displaying the “miles until 65 MPH max speed” warning, the warning takes over the Driver Information Center and cannot be acknowledged or dismissed with the steering-wheel thumbwheel. This prevents me from accessing unrelated DIC information, including Trip 1/Trip 2 and other vehicle information, potentially for hundreds of miles. The truck recently received the latest available software update. I am requesting that GM document this as a software/usability defect and provide a case number. The DEF warning should remain available without preventing access to other DIC functions.

Got my truck back yesterday from in shop for 2 weeks from being repaired. Got to red light just stopped my engine shuts off. Dash shows engine/transmission problems. Exact same thing happened two weeks ago. Had to get towed into dealer again this am

OnStar Telemetry Control module suddenly failed. Systems such as automatic crash detection, directions, mapping and OnStar emergency connection and SOS all not working. Rests did not work and truck is at the dealership for repairs. Internet reports that this is a common issue with 24-25 models but GMC not proactively repairing or compensating owners for repair. They issued a service bulletin for some models but are resisting a recall to address safety issues. GM Service update N262547330.

The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on the highway and hauling a camper, the message that the DEF tank was empty and needed to be refilled was displayed, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and decelerated to 35 MPH. The driver continued driving and pulled over to a safe location. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was determined that the DEF tank needed to be replaced; however, the manufacturer denied authorization because the required preliminary procedures had not been completed. The manufacturer General Motors LLC was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 4.

The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump power control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,728.

6.2L/L87 engine passed PICO test in August 2025 (24,190 miles). Switched to 0W-40. Engine lost propulsion in June 2026 (32,371 miles). Towed to dealer. Engine replaced in July 2026.
