NORMALIZED COMPLAINT CONTEXT
Production-normalized complaint data is not currently available for this vehicle.
This metric compares the number of NHTSA owner complaint records retrieved by CarIQ with NHTSA-reported production volume for the corresponding vehicle population.
It is not a vehicle failure rate. Complaint reporting behavior, vehicle age, time on the road, production definitions, and other factors can affect the result.

A complaint may list more than one component and therefore contribute to multiple categories. Percentages show the share of categorized complaint records that mention each component—not the percentage of vehicles affected. Category percentages may overlap.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that there were persistent failures with the infotainment system. The contact stated that occasionally the screen flickered abnormally, the navigation system zoomed in and out unexpectedly, unintended phone calls were made while driving, and the screen occasionally became frozen or was unresponsive to touch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the infotainment head unit was replaced under warranty; however, the issues persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the dealer and the manufacturer determined that a software update was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not yet developed a fix for the failure. A case was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

Erratic uncontrolled phantom touches on the primary console screen create severe driver distraction, alter settings whuke driving, and that multiple dealer replacements (screen + head unit) failed to remedy the issue under warranty.

The touchscreen something’s fails to work. It freezes and it doesn’t allow me to push on anything. If I have it under CarPlay and I’m GPS mode to get directions to where I’m going too and then it begins to have glitches . It switches back and forth from am/fm radio then to pandora then back to am/fm non stop. The screen randomly starts clicking on its own— I tried factory reset and it hasn’t resolved my issue. It often a happens mostly when the screen is hot but it’s done it too when the screen is in normal temperature .

Screen glitch acting erratic. Absolutely annoying. Even USB connection glitches. Apps jump. Phone disconnect… Total disappointment. No solution in 4 years?

Infotainment is unresponsive and also ghost touches on its own. It’ll turn on and blast the radio on its own, end phone calls, call people and switch out of navigation all which is extremely distracting. System was reproduced by the dealer, got replaced and the problem came back. Dealer says Honda tech line says that there is no fix but that it is in the works.
Engine

The car suddenly started to miss fire and lose power. This puts the driver and others in dangerous situations. If it happens when pulling out into traffic and the car misfired it could cause a serious crash. Honda service diagnosed that a blown head gasket causes coolant to leak into the cylinders, leading to engine misfires and a sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds. This issue is well documented on 2016 to 2022 honda Accords. There are many documented cases of this exact premature failure. Honda is aware of this issue and has awarded some owners goodwill repair when outside of warranty. There is currently ongoing litigation because of the 10s of thousands of head gasket failures. My car has 75k miles and went out of warranty at 60k miles. My goodwill request was denied by local regional Honda Rep but I elevated the request to corporate Honda and currently waiting on their response.

This event occurred after a history of ABS system issues as well as Infotainment system issues since 10k miles. During morning commute at approximately 60 mph, all dash warnings began to chime associated with the Touring features of the sedan. TPMS, Collision Avoidance, Braking System, Lane Departure, etc. AND Electric Power Steering. The steering wheel clicked and immediately became difficult to steer. I found a safe pullover point and managed to return the car safely the short distance home.

The screen is now severely ghost-touching, overriding navigation, and falsely reporting accidents while I drive. This is a severe distraction and a safety hazard.
NHTSA complaints are reports submitted by vehicle owners and other consumers. Complaint counts do not represent the percentage of vehicles affected and do not by themselves establish that a safety defect exists.
A higher complaint count can partly reflect how many vehicles were sold, vehicle age, and other factors. CarIQ does not yet normalize complaint counts by vehicles sold.

OFFICIAL NHTSA MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION DATA
MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS
No NHTSA manufacturer communication records were returned for this year, make, and model.
Manufacturer communications include service bulletins and other technical information submitted by manufacturers to NHTSA. The existence or number of communications does not establish how often a condition occurs or whether an individual vehicle will experience it.
Some manufacturers may issue more detailed service documentation than others, so communication counts should not be used alone to compare vehicle reliability.

On February 21, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation (PE22003) to assess reports of inadvertent activation of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), an automatic emergency braking (AEB) system, in model year 2017-2019 Honda CR-V and 2018-2019 Honda Accord vehicles. The reports allege that activation of the AEB system occurs while driving with no apparent obstruction in the vehicle's forward path, resulting in sudden vehicle deceleration. Honda indicated that they were aware of a total of X,XXX reports that may relate to the alleged defect. Honda provided analysis of the alleged defect and alleges that some customers possibly had an inadequate understanding of the CMBS and its limitations. However, many consumer complaints allege that Honda dealerships were unable to reproduce the condition or state that they were informed that this is considered normal CMBS operation. To date, ODI has received a total of 1,294 consumer complaints of inadvertent activation of CMBS in 2017-2022 Honda CR-V and 2018-2022 Honda Accord vehicles. A total of 31 complaints alleged a crash and 50 alleged an injury. The Total column in the Failure Report Summary removes duplicate reports and shows the total number of reports with unique VINs from all Manufacturer, ODI, and EWR data sources. In some cases, there were multiple reports associated with a particular vehicle in which recurring failures were alleged. In total, there were X,XXX reports, 93 injury incidents and 47 crashes involving vehicles with unique VINs that may relate to the alleged defect. PE22-003 has been upgraded to an Engineering Analysis to further assess the scope, frequency, and potential safety related consequences of the inadvertent AEB activations. The scope has been expanded to include assessment of model year 2020-2022 Honda CR-V and Accord vehicles. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
NHTSA investigations evaluate potential motor-vehicle safety defects. The existence of an investigation does not by itself establish that a safety defect exists, and the absence of an investigation does not establish that a vehicle is problem-free.
Open and closed describe NHTSA's process status, not a CarIQ reliability judgment.
